Our History

Detector Technology, Inc. was founded in 1983 by Raymond Roy and Peter Graves. The original facility was located in Brookfield, Massachusetts where they started making Continuous Dynode Electron Multipliers. In 1988, DeTech expanded its organization by forming the Glass Tech division. Glass Tech’s core business was specialty extrusions, draws, and glass formulations for the fiber optic community. In 1992, due to the rapid growth of both divisions, DeTech soon moved to a 10,000 square foot modern facility in Sturbridge, Massachusetts.

In 1996, the company went through a major reorganization, by splitting the two divisions into two separate companies. Directionally, this was done to better serve the customer base and provided the ability for both divisions to further expand. Raymond Roy kept the multiplier product line and relocated the company to Palmer, Massachusetts. Peter Graves kept the Glass Tech division and renamed the organization to Pegasus Glassworks.

In August of 2000, Raymond Roy retired from the company and DeTech restructured again which allowed them to expand for further future growth. Jay Ray was appointed President of the company, with Laura Ray being named Chief Financial Officer. The company has now expanded its capabilities into contract clean room assembly; Specialty Coatings utilizing Physical Vapor Deposition, and Custom Glass Extrusions and Draws. DeTech has also achieved ISO 9001/2000 quality certification with a major focus on customer support and service.
